According to Malaysian Maritime Strategic Plan 2040, more than a thousand of employees are needed in the maritime industry to enable the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) to operate at its optimal level. Datuk Saiful Lizan Ibrahim, the deputy director-general (logistics) Maritime Vice-Admiral of MMEA expressed his concern regarding the lack of manpower in the industry compared to the existing assets. He encouraged more people to be recruited in the maritime industry as it is crucial in order to patrol the nation’s waters.
