Collect Mangrove sampling at Tanjung Kupang, Johor in collaboration with Kelab Alami Tanjung Kupang , Johor. on 17 February 2023. This community engagement program is a collaboration with Kelab Alami at Mukim Tanjung Kupang, Gelang Patah. Formed in 2007, Kelab Alami which is located at Mukim Tanjung Kupang, was the brainchild of a local fisherman named Lan and a visiting environmental researcher Dr. Serina. At first, the club was set up to help the youth gain an understanding of the village’s natural environment by encouraging them to assist scientists at work there. Today, the community environmental education club has evolved into a social enterprise focusing on educational research and involving the whole kampung. One of their current project is to save mangrove trees around Pasar Pendekar Laut, and their first phase is to collect the “baby-tree” and save them before they were carried away by the waves and fisherman parking spot.
