Malaysia Maritime Week 2023

Malaysia Maritime Week 2023 (MMW23) was a 3-day international conference and exhibition that brought together various leaders, experts, maritime industry players, and institutions across the maritime value chain under one roof to learn from one another, forge partnerships, and access new business value creation. As one of the maritime niche universities, Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) is committed to supporting the commitment of the International Maritime Organization’s World Maritime (IMO) to protect and preserve the environment by exposing and equipping its lecturers, staff, and students with current information and updates. The MMW23 presented the participants with two conference topics: maritime conferences and green shipping conferences, concurrently with an exhibition of maritime agencies, government bodies, companies, and associated institutions.
The Green Voyage 2025 project was developed in conjunction with the IMO GHG Strategy to assist developing nations in reducing total annual GHG emissions from ships by at least 50 percent by 2050 compared to 2008 levels. Twelve countries participate in the project: Azerbaijan, Belize, China, the Cook Islands, Ecuador, Georgia, India, Kenya, Malaysia, the Solomon Islands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Malaysia, as one of the “pioneer pilot countries,” has established the National Task Force by the Green Marine Boat Tug and Pilot by the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), which has been selected as the pilot project for Malaysia and the pioneer project for attaining the GV2050 objective.
