Westports Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is a multi-cargo terminal at Port Klang’s Pulau Indah.
Containers, breakbulk, dry bulk, liquid bulk, vehicles (roll-on roll-off), and other
typical commodities are all handled by Westports. Located along the Malacca
Straits, Westports has merged with Northport to form Port Klang, the world’s 18th
busiest seaport. The premise of the programme enables the students to learn soft
skills needed in the industry and also foster bilateral ties between the organizations. The
guest lecturer is expected to deliver lectures in their subject matter and
participate in discussions that are mutually beneficial.
Preparation for the programme was done a month before the event to ensure there is no problem arises before and during the event. The process of contacting the guest speaker is easy and straightforward as the guest speaker is intrigued about the event. The announcement of the programme was made a week before the date by sending the poster to the students through WhatsApp groups. A registration QR code was also given along with the poster to acquire the estimation number of students that are interested to join the event. Then, the Google Meet link was given to the students on the day of the event according to the registration name list. However, there are some students who did not managed to register were still allowed to join as the quota of the Google Meet participants has yet to exceed. Some lecturers also joined the sharing session and learn new knowledge about the industry along with the students. Through the interaction between the guest speaker and students, it is not only encourages discourse to be exchanged, but it also raised awareness towards NMUC as there were students who expressed their interest in working at Westports after the event. The guest speaker shows good responses towards the students’ enthusiasm in joining the industry and also the company.
