NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION PROCESS

This registration would need verification by Unversity (NMUC). Where STAAR will register the student information into Barracuda Systems to ensure that the student will get the Official Letter of Offer. All the personal details of students will be generated by Barracuda systems and the information is private and confidential.
A process where students will officially enrol as NMUC students. After the student being activated all relevant information will be shared such as Study Fees, Program Structure, Program Outline, Academic Sessions Semester and Intake.

The student handbook is the official statement that provides guidelines and general information to guide the student during their study. It covers information about the college, academic, codes and discipline, fees and financial policies, facilities and others.
Counselling is a process in which two people meet to explore personal problems and to identify solutions. It is a process where two-way communications happen between client and counsellor in a therapeutic environment and session. The objective of counselling is to help the client clarify the issues, gain insight into feelings and thoughts and deal effectively in handling problems.

The fees are different for each course. Each student will be provided with a fee structure according to their course. All students and parents need to sign the fee structure during the registration day. Detailed information will be provided by the Finance department during the student induction program.

Subject registration is a process should be done by the student for every semester where the student will get the information on the subject they will be taking for the particular semester.
The academic calendar holds all the important dates for the entire academic year. In NMUC, the Academic year consists of 3 semesters of study. Important dates such as intake registration, class commence, class end, final examination dates, study week, mid-term break, semester break, public holiday and etc.
The student portal is the medium where student can view their personal information detail, subject detail, fees detail, results for every semester and etc. The student portal is also an accessible medium for any important updates from College. New students will get the activation guidelines through email.
The class timetable is a list that shows subject code, subject name, lecturer name, venue and time, in the week at which particular subjects are taught.
A programme structure is the curriculum components and study duration of a programme which depicts the specified subjects to be taken for the purpose of conferment of Foundation/ Diploma/ Degree.
Examination rules and regulations are the guidelines for students on what things that they should know prior to, during and after the examination. It involves a lot of important information related to the Examination policies.
Students will be using Moodle Learning Management System (https://moodle.nmitapp.edu.my/) to view course materials, participate in course activities, receive instant course notifications, view calendar events, pull to refresh data on your screen, upload images and other files, find and interact with course participants, search for courses. In addition, for live online classes, Google Meet video conferencing and Facebook Live video streaming will be used. Google Meet / Facebook Live will be recorded and and the link to the recorded session is upload to Moodle and can be viewed by the student.
Library rules and regulations as a guideline for a student on what they should do’s and don’ts in the library. There is a lot of information including library collections, Library Facilities and Library services provided for library users for research.
Library E-Resources is an open-access platform that covers most of the online collection that required students to access the database to support them in teaching, learning and research. It provides a wide range of e-resources including e-book, e-magazine, e-journal, full-text journal articles, case studies and etc. that are related to the maritime sector.
