The Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) led a youth engagement event, gathering 60 university students and 30 maritime lecturers alongside partners including the IMO’s GreenVoyage2050 programme and the Malaysian Maritime Department. The session provided a platform for students and faculty to explore the practical and educational dimensions of shipping’s green transition, with discussions centered on emerging careers in decarbonization, digitalization, and sustainable port operations. NMUC’s active involvement underscored its role in bridging academic expertise with industry needs, fostering dialogue between future professionals and established educators.

Through this initiative, NMUC reinforced its commitment to shaping a skilled and adaptive maritime workforce, equipping both students and lecturers with insights into global sustainability challenges. By facilitating knowledge exchange with practitioners such as Captain Emanuel from PTP and aligning with international efforts like GreenVoyage2050, NMUC is strengthening educational frameworks to ensure the next generation and those who teach them can lead the sector’s shift toward a greener, more inclusive future.
