The semi-final match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Kedah in the FA Cup was a significant event for the students of Netherlands Maritime University College, thanks to an invitation from the Johor State Government. The university sent 120 students to witness the match, a gesture that recognized the university’s support for Southern Volunteers, an initiative aimed at promoting student volunteerism.

Southern Volunteers sponsored the event, covering the costs of match tickets, transportation, and certificates of appreciation. Seven lecturers—Mr. Aiman Muqri bin Ahmad Shukri, Ms. Farah Syazwani binti Hayrol Aziz, Mr. Muhamad Firdaus bin Mat Arip, Dr. Nur Azreen binti Paiman, Ms. Nurul Syafiqah binti Pauzi, Ms. Norliza binti Jaafar, and Ms. Al Fatin Farhanah binti Khairodin—accompanied the students, ensuring their safety and providing guidance.

The match took place on 4th August 2024 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Johor, with the students arriving well before the 8:15 PM kick-off. All participants were dressed in Southern Volunteers’ white shirts, and tickets were distributed at the stadium’s main entrance. Buses were arranged for transportation, ensuring everyone arrived on time. While the core event costs were covered by Southern Volunteers.

The experience was filled with excitement, giving students a chance to observe teamwork and sportsmanship in a professional setting, which complemented their holistic education. The event also provided opportunities for social interaction with peers from other institutions, fostering new connections.
