Educational Visit to MACC Johor
On February 15, 2024, 120 students and 10 lecturers from Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) embarked on an educational visit to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Johor. This visit, organized by the School of General Studies and Management under the Academic Department, was designed to meet the requirements of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption subject (MPU3352/MPU2363) for both Diploma and Degree levels.
The program began with an insightful talk by MACC Officer Marhalim bin Mohamed, who drew upon his extensive experience to discuss the intricacies of anti-corruption practices. His presentation was followed by a Q&A session, where students engaged actively, asking probing questions to deepen their understanding of corruption and the mechanisms in place to combat it. This session was particularly impactful, as it allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
Following the talk, students were given a unique opportunity to tour the MACC facilities, which included visits to the detention cells and the identity parade room, guided by the Security Branch of MACC Johor. This tour provided a tangible experience of the operational aspects of the MACC, further solidifying the students’ grasp of anti-corruption efforts.
The primary objective of this program was to benefit both students and staff by enhancing their awareness and understanding of anti-corruption measures. This initiative also aimed to reinforce NMUC’s commitment to promoting integrity and curbing corruption, aligning with the institution’s broader educational goals of fostering ethical values among its community. The visit left a lasting impression on participants, emphasizing the importance of integrity in their future professional endeavors.
